Curt Newport, NREMT, Owner, CPR Instructor, EMS Evaluator

Curt Newport is the Owner of Newport Enterprises. As the Lead CPR Instructor for many classes, Curt trains hundreds of participants every year in lifesaving CPR and BLS classes. Additionally, Curt supervises a team of instructors, most of whom are actual 911 First Responders, who each bring real life experience and professional acumen to the classroom. Curt carries Instructor and Master Trainer certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) and the Health and Safety Institute (HSI/ASHI). Additionally, Curt served as Regional BLS Faculty for the American Heart Association in the National Capital Region, before that role was eliminated by the AHA.

Curt has been training groups of all sizes since 1995. Curt has also been a Volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) since 1998, responding to 911 calls in his community on a BLS or ALS Ambulance, and has also trained as a Reserve Firefighter in California. Curt currently serves as his department’s Rescue Chief in Loudoun County, Virginia, and works as an Instructor at the Fire/Rescue Training Academy.

Curt is an EMT Evaluator for the Virginia Office of EMS, as well as the Northern Virginia EMS Council.

In his spare time, Curt is certified as a three-sport high school sports official, in baseball (since 1992), volleyball (since 2007) and soccer (since 2013). Curt coached boys travel soccer for over 10 years, and currently handles Public Address duties for a local high school soccer team, and works part time for Major League Baseball. Curt also holds a Private Pilot license with an instrument rating, and enjoys flying his Cirrus SR-22.

Ali Akbar, Firefighter/Paramedic, BLS Instructor, ACLS/PALS Instructor

Ali works as both a Firefighter/Medic in Louisa County, Virginia, and volunteers as the same in Loudoun County. Ali also works for UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville. Ali has been involved in EMS as a First Responder since 2008, and has experience working with critical care transport, as well as first response in some very active 911 systems. Ali is currently the Training Officer for Louisa County Fire Rescue.
Ali is our primary ACLS/PALS instructor, and currently lives in the Charlottesville area.

Elizabeth Coberly, MS-Ed, Aquatics Instructor, BLS Instructor

Elizabeth holds Instructor Certifications from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Aerobics & Fitness Association of America, National Swimming Pool Foundation, and many more, and has instructed CPR, First Aid and related courses for more than two decades. She is a former Faculty Adjunct at George Mason University and at Lord Fairfax Community College. Elizabeth  has been working in the aquatic industry for over 25 years. During that time, she has worked in nearly every type of aquatic position.

Elizabeth holds a MEd in Recreation Administration from the University of Toledo where she served as a Graduate Assistant in Aquatics and she is a Certified Recreational Sports Specialist through the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association. She is currently working toward a PhD in Recreation and Leisure Behavior with a research focus in Folklore. Elizabeth leads our Aquatics offerings, in addition to teaching CPR. Elizabeth is able to deliver our courses in English and in Spanish.

Allison Grant, EMT, BLS Instructor ,

James Grant, Firefighter/Paramedic, BLS Instructor

Allison has been a volunteer EMT in Loudoun County since 2012.  In addition to responding to 911 calls once a week, she works PRN at a local hospital as an ER Technician.

James has followed his family bloodlines, and is a third generation Firefighter/EMT-P in Loudoun County. James is also a Heavy Rescue Technician, and a Fire Officer, and currently works as a Firefighter/Medic at Dulles Airport.  James teaches CPR and First Aid throughout Northern Virginia,

The Grant Family lives in Loudoun County, with their three children.

Jeff Jackson, BLS Instructor, BLS Training Center Faculty

Jeff is a retired Emergency Medical Technician in Loudoun County, Virginia, with extensive First Responder experience, and first began teaching CPR in 2007.  He has extensive professional background in conference management and IT.

Sarah Lindquist, EMT-P, BLS Instructor

Sarah is a volunteer Paramedic for a Rescue Squad in Loudoun County, Virginia. She has been volunteering as a 911 First Responder since 2010, and teaches new Firefighter and EMT students, as well as students in public classes. Sarah also speaks several languages fluently.
Sarah and her family live in Prince William County, Virginia.

Marybeth Henry, EMT, BLS Instructor, EMT Evaluator

Mary Beth has been a volunteer EMT since 2007, and teaches a variety of BLS, CPR and First Aid courses throughout the Metro Washington DC Area. Mary Beth is the lead EMT Instructor for Loudoun County Public Schools at the Academies of Loudoun, and is an instructor/evalautor for Loudoun County Fire Rescue, as well as running her own business, full time.

Marybeth lives in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Rick Myers, EMT, BLS Instructor

Rick has been a volunteer EMT in Virginia since 2008, and served for 10 years as a First Responder. Rick is a retired US Navy Officer, and is currently a practicing attorney in Chesapeake, Virginia. Rick formerly served as BLS Training Center Faculty for Loudoun County Fire Rescue services.

Rick is an Instrument Rated Private Pilot, and volunteers with the Civil Air Patrol, flying a Cessna 172 and 182.

Rick lives in the Virginia Beach area with his wife.
