About Me
Curt Newport is a veteran Hospitality Professional and Corporate Trainer. He spent over a dozen years with Marriott International, in several capacities ranging from Department Manager to General Manager at individual properties, and positions such as Training Manager for North America and Director of Training for the ExecuStay by Marriott brand. In these capacities, Curt has trained, literally, thousands of people, ranging in rank and tenure from the newest manager to Senior Management and Executive Level Teambuildings. He is an accomplished public speaker, routinely addressing groups of dozens, if not hundreds of participants. He has also spent several years in Field Management with Starbucks Coffee Company, and has a proven track record in both organizations of financial results, low turnover and high employee satisfaction. Curt is certified to deliver programs from Covey Leadership (Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and First Things First), as well as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, among others. He is also certified as an instructor for the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI). Curt has been training groups of all sizes since 1995.
Curt writes regular columns on various topics ranging from safety tips for new parents to foodborne illness prevention, and has been published in The First Word (www.thefirstword.com) as well as other local Loudoun County (VA) publications.
Curt has also been a Volunteer Emergency Medical Technician since 1998, responding to 911 calls in his community on a BLS or ALS Ambulance. He has also trained as a Reserve Firefighter, and has served as the Public Relations Officer for the Rescue Squad. He currently holds the rank of Sergeant and Crew Leader, as well as Field Training Instructor, and leads a team of twelve EMTs and Paramedics at least one night every week for two different Rescue Squads.
Curt is a High School sports official, working games as a Varsity and JV baseball umpire in the Spring, and Varsity and JV Volleyball in the fall.
Curt graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, and is originally from San Diego.
Curt is a member of the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Sports Officials, Virginia Hospitality and Tourism Association, and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
